📰 Hyperlocal News
LEWISHAM
Leegate Shopping Centre Tower Approved
Lewisham planners approved London Square’s revised Leegate scheme which includes around 620 homes and a 17-storey tower at the Lee Green crossroads. The decision follows objections over height, impact on local character and branding; it will reshape the local town centre and raises questions about infrastructure, schools and transport.
GREENWICH
Transparency in Greenwich developer contributions
Royal Greenwich announced it collected more than £16 million in developer contributions last year and is doubling S106 investment — funding that will be used for social housing, education and local facilities. This is important for neighbourhood groups and councillors tracking how development money is being spent locally.
SOUTHWARK
Shuffling of Members at Southwark Council
Southwark’s Cabinet has been reshuffled following the resignation of the Cabinet Member for Housing after it emerged he had not complied with selective licensing rules. The reshuffle has immediate political implications for housing oversight and will attract public attention given the council’s role in regulating private landlords.
